Like Debbie, I am still asking "What's next?" however I have been asking it a little bit longer since I have been technically in semi-retirement for a few years. I have been seeking God's and other's advice (more the opinion of others) on where I should focus my time e.g., re-enter the workforce to utilize some of my skills and bring in extra income, volunteer in a ministry capacity, or possibly a combination of both. But as of now, I have not had a clear indication from God as to where I should devote my remaining time. I also think I may be using the unknowns related to my cancer as an excuse for not being available to do either.

Thanks for your vulnerability here, dad! It sounds like you've got a couple of possible options that you're trying to navigate. (That's a good thing!) Praying for you, and I'm hoping that this email series helps a bit.

As I am contemplating retirement, I'm asking "What's next?" Yes, I want to slow down and take it easy, but I know there may be new areas where I can serve the Lord. I want to be open to His leading.

That sounds like a perfect season to be listening for God’s voice. I hadn’t thought about how many people might be thinking about what God wants as they’re considering retirement. Thanks for sharing!

I'm in an era where I have so many good and exciting possibilities to fill my time. Often that means saying "No" to good things so I can say "Yes" to better things. I'm not confident I know what The Important Things are in this one wild and precious life. I would like to hear from God about what He thinks is Important for me to devote my time and energy on, particularly within my career.

Kendall! I’m so glad you found my email newsletter. I like how you’re seeking God’s voice “within your career.” So many people seek God’s voice about a career, then stop seeking it once they’re in it. Hope this newsletter helps you out.

I’m in a transitional season where I’m waiting to hear from God in a lot of big areas. But I second, Alexander’s comment, I forget to ask Him questions, especially when it comes to the day-to-day, and often find myself rushing ahead and making decisions and then wishing I talked to him more about making the decisions on the front end. Looking forward to gleaning from you on to be more intentional in hearing from God.

Your email came through this morning after I had been reading Isaiah and had just paused to ask, “Lord, what do You want me to know today?”

Most days, I keep my schedule too packed to pause and listen. I look for more external confirmations of where God is leading me and my family (those are always nice) but forget to ask Him questions and keep the communication channels open. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on making room / taking time to hear from God!

That’s such a good question to ask while reading scripture. We’ll talk all about reading the Bible and hearing God speak through it deep into this series.

And I love what you said about keeping the communication channels open throughout the day. Hard without some silence and quiet moments.
