Let Me Reintroduce Myself
And tell you about what's coming next for this Substack starting later this week.
Last Tuesday, I finished a 40-part series I started in April called Hear From God in Forty Emails (or Less). During that series, this community of subscribers grew from around 40 to 175 people. (That’s assuming none of you are robots.)
Let Me Reintroduce Myself
With that in mind, let me introduce yourself (so that you know I’m not a robot either).1
My name is Austin Gohn. My wife and I have been married for over a decade, and we’re raising three kids in Pittsburgh, PA in a home we’re renovating one room at a time.

I’m the lead pastor of Bellevue Christian Church in Pittsburgh, PA—a church that’s been making disciples since 1896. (You can subscribe to our podcast on Spotify here and Apple podcasts here.)
I’m the founder of Everyday Institute—a series of courses designed to make it simple for people, churches, and ministries to accelerate discipleship every single day. (Our next course is coming out in March, but our first three are available for free on our website.)
I’m the author of A Restless Age from Gospel-Centered Discipleship—a book that’s all about Saint Augustine and the five searches of young adulthood. I tried to write the book I wish I had as a young adult.
What’s Next for This Substack
And, I’m also working on my next book that’s all about hearing God in the decisions that matter most, which is what this Substack has been all about so far.
The series that the book will be based on might be over, but this Substack is not. A few changes are in order, though.
First, I’m going to need a new name for this Substack. I’m open to ideas, but I just don’t want to end up calling it “Austy McAustyFace’s Newsletter.” For now, until I come up with something, it’s just going to be my name.
Second, instead of sending posts every week, I will be sending out posts on the first and third Thursday of each month—starting this Thursday. Weekly is fun, but I want to make space to start working on my next book.
With that in mind, here’s what you can look for in your inbox over the next few months:
A 3-Part Series on Reading Books—including an annual list of ten books I enjoyed this year and might want to add to your own list, a short guide you can use to make your own reading list, and what to do after you read a book (and before you pick up your next one)
A Series on Practicing Sabbath—including some of what I’ve learned after practicing a weekly sabbath for over a decade and a recipe for sourdough pizza just about anyone can try.
I’ll be experimenting this year with what this newsletter is all about, but for now I want to keep it as practical as I can and always send you something that will help you live everyday life like Jesus.
Thanks for subscribing and for letting me reintroduce myself!
Now, I’d love for you to introduce yourself and one interesting fact about you in the comments so I can get to know you a little better.
Also, I love em dashes, but I don’t use AI to create or edit my writing.

Excited to continue to read your work, Austin!
I’m Kiersten - missionary wife, homeschool mama, avid book reader.
And fun fact for other readers here, I went to college with Austin and his wife. :)
